|Environmental Biologist NOC #0029
Environmental Biologists conduct basic and applied research to extend knowledge of living organisms, to manage natural resources, and to develop new practices and products related to medicine and agriculture.
Other aspects of this position may include:
Planning and conducting studies of the environment, of various populations, distribution, structure and functional characteristics and behaviour of plants and animals;
Conducting ecological and environmental impact studies and preparing reports and studies;
Identifying and classifying plant and animal specimens in addition to conducting experiments in plant or animal growth, heredity and breeding;
Reporting and planning for management of renewable resources and national resource management;
Supervising lower-level biological technologists, technicians and other scientists.
Relevant skills and abilities for environmental biology includes being ammenable to work in the field, project management, an ability to analyze and interpret collected data.
A bachelor's degree in Biology or a related discipline is required. Most positions will require a master's or doctoral degree.
Knowledge of US and Canadian Environmental Regulations where relevant will be required.
