Solar Energy
Solar energy is using the sun’s heat and light for electricity, using either heat engines or photovoltaics. A heat engine is a device that takes the sun’s thermal energy and converts it into electricity/mechanical work. Photovoltaics are the conversion of solar cells into electric power or electricity. A solar panel absorbs photons from sunlight which bump into electrons creating energy, creating electricity. Solar energy is one of the most globally accessible renewable resources - the sun continuously shines. There are many ways to collect and store solar energy. The amount of solar energy the earth receives in one year is twice as much as the world uses in non-renewable resources, such as natural gas, coal, oil and uranium.
