Our Philosophy - It's not Kant, but these principles guide our thinking:
-
The transition to a green economy isn't simply a nice thing to do, but a necessary thing. We believe it is necessary for several reasons, including: economic prosperity, public health, national security, energy independence, and environmental health, not necessarily in that order and not necessarily of equal weight. However, each by itself is sufficient grounds for investing in the transition, and collectively the argument becomes unassailable.
-
We believe that it is not only OK for companies and individuals to profit from the transition to a green economy, but that this is necessary. Profit is an effective and respectable goal. And it will drive the innovation engine that underlies our success. But profit also must be achieved in a sustainable manner including internalizing externalities into the business and pricing models.
-
We are a non-partisan organization that advocates for a prudently aggressive transition to a green economy. We understand that there are differences within our membership base about what the end state looks like and how we get there. We respect these differences and in fact embrace the variety of perspectives.
