This is our second annual corporate responsibility report. It mainly covers the past fiscal year from June'08-May'09. However, selected highlights are also noted up to the date of this report's availability in early fall 2009.

Content and Execution

Both the content and execution of this report were chosen with you and the environment in mind.

You, because you're the reason this report was created in the first place. Whatever your relationship with Deloitte, we want you to know how we think and the choices we make as we strive to live the values we proclaim. Foremost among those values is a respect for each other and the world that surrounds us; on a journey where we seek to better understand and manage our impacts.

Because we also respect your time, rather than an exhaustive review we have focused on areas of materiality and relevance which inform and we believe best exemplify what we are and who we aspire to be. Want to know more? Please go to www.deloitte.com.

Because we consider the "how" to be as important as the "what," this report is meant to be viewed online. There is an abbreviated .pdf version available that could be printed, but unless necessary we'd rather you not. Instead enjoy the benefits that electronic communication offers to convey a message that moves, talks, links and sometimes surprises...with minimal effect on the environment.

Lastly in regard to execution, we note that only existing images and videos have been used in this report. And, further, what you read has been crafted directly by those who are actually responsible for delivering the initiatives and programs that are mentioned.

This report is meant to be explored at your own pace. We assume you will not consume the report at one sitting, but instead select bite-size sections where you expect to find most relevant value.

The home page links on the left start with the Year-in-Review. We strongly recommend browsing through the more than 100 events that have been selected. Perhaps more than any other part of this report, they provide a feeling of what it's like to work at Deloitte as we have progressed through the past year. Also the featured quotes express our views on the whole spectrum of corporate responsibility (CR) at Deloitte.

Our CR policy, the message from our chief executive officer, the interview with our corporate responsibility officer, and a view of corporate responsibility at Deloitte frames our strategic approach, highlights our accomplishments, and recognizes both the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Then the specific components of how we seek to do the right thing, the right way demonstrate the dedicated resources whose perspectives and insight not only lead our internal efforts but in many instances also represent leading voices within their communities of interest. In these sections you'll find a "Want to know more?" segment that contains links to additional information and/or videos, if you want to drill down on a particular topic.

A new Reporting section mentions initial insights from our carbon footprint baseline study; and there are the In the News, and Awards/Recognition sections as well. They are not part of the flow of the report but rather destinations for those who are interested. Finally the last section—About Deloitte—provides details regarding organization and governance.
