Electric & Hybrid Cars
An Electric Car is an alternative fuel vehicle that has an electric motor and motor controllers. Typically, the power fuelling the vehicle is an internal battery. The efficiency of an electric car relies on the battery’s ability to charge and discharge. Electric cars are also more thermally efficient because they do not generate as much heat as conventionally powered vehicles. While electric vehicles do emit some emissions, they’re lower than vehicles that run on either gasoline or diesel.
Hybrid Electric Vehicles use different types of engines than electric cars do. These vehicles are not considered (purely) electric vehicles because they require power from an external source, like gasoline, to charge their battery.
